Govt. Launches Android App that will work offline also:

CBEC launched a mobile app ‘GST Rate Finder‘. The app, available on the Android platform, helps users find out the GST (Goods and Service Tax) rate for various goods and services. It can be downloaded on any smartphone and can work in offline mode as well, once downloaded.

The App is currently available on the Android platform, but will soon be made available for Apple's iOS users as well, the Finance Ministry said.

How it Works:

The user can determine the GST rate for a goods or a service by entering the name or the chapter heading of the commodity or service. The search result will list all the goods and services containing the name which is typed in the search box. The rates can also be accessed from the CBEC GST website

Benefit of App:

First app of its kind which would be a ready reckoner for public, for customers, for consumers, traders, students, anyone who wishes to have very handily (GST) rates available. So, if you are in a market, a restaurant or anywhere you can easily check what the (GST) rate is. For example, any person who has been billed by a hotel or a restaurant, or for a footwear purchase, can cross-verify the correctness of the rate of GST charged.
